paintings

I’ve been working on mineral drawings / watercolor paintings series recently and I think it’s a good time to share them here. I’ve done 6 paintings and at this point my work started to evaluate in different direction, so I think I’m done with mineral watercolor paintings for this moment. I’ll share another version of these drawings next week. Here they are:

These watercolor paintings by Sarah Hinckley are so simple and beautiful I had a hard time choosing only a few… You can find more on Sarah Hinckley’s web site.

Julian Trevelyan is another British painter I admire. Privately a husband of Mary Fedden, it’s interesting to watch how they have influenced each other.

Today I want to share with you one of my favourites painters – Piotr Potworowski. He was born in 1898 in Poland. During II WW he left to Sweden and later to Great Britain. He spent also a lot of time travelling in southern Europe – Spain, Italy and France. He died in 1962 in Poland.

I love his paintings mostly because of beautiful color combinations which create abstract landscapes. If you were able to see his work in person you probably noticed that his paintings look very soft, like a soft fabric (I have no idea why…), and some of them have collage elements applied like pieces of bags, fishing nets or tea towels (for example the one below).

If you know one name of contemporary Polish painter it’s probably Wilhelm Sasnal. Very well known for his realistic but very simple paintings (some are huge) showing usually scenes from a daily life.
